Who doesn’t love searching through old vintage shops, especially the ones where they just pile everything right up to the ceiling. I know I sure do and that’s exactly what I did!
While day dreaming out the bus window I noticed a unique looking store had its doors wide open to the strew with items just spilling out onto the sidewalk. I’ve noticed the place before but it never seemed to look open so of course I jumped off the bus and went to check it out. They had all kinds of interesting items but one thing intrigued me, a pile of “mystery boxes” they had along one wall. The lady said they were $10 a box and you couldn’t open them you just had to pick one and hope for the best. I was a little hesitant but after watching an older gentleman buy two I had to have one.
So below is what I found in my mystery box, well at least only the interesting items, there were a few plastic shoe racks that weren’t worth keeping.
All pretty interesting right? But then narrowed it down even more to just these three items.
The grey hat is actually designed by Anita Pineault, who is a designer from Quebec and makes hats inspired by Audrey Hepburn. A small serving try has a vintage pattern on it but I think Im going to paint over the black with a lighter colour.
The last item I kind of like the most. It seems to be a soft leather binder of some sort. Once you open it up there are a few different compartments and felt pages. Seems like an older portfolio booklet. Ether way the leather is very nice and the pirate ship on the front has kind of grown on me. So I was thinking of maybe turning it into an over sized clutch and adding some kind of gold detailing in the hardware. I’ll have to post that DIY project soon.
I also managed to bring home one other item, a black Asian inspired stand, which is going to be my next DIY project. Thinking of using some white and gold paint for this one!
