So I have been trying to find a gold spray paint that actually has a metallic almost reflective finish to it. I have tried about three different brands all from either Canadian tire or Home Depot, as they seem to be the most reasonably priced. However I did look into some others at Michaels and still they all seem to turn out a bit flat looking. When I think of either gold or silver I am expecting the finish to have some sort of reflection or more chrome look to it and all I seem to find are flat finishes.
Until the other day when I happen to stop into Curry’s Art Store to pick up some canvases I decided to check out their spray paint collection. After speaking to their spray paint expert he showed me the Montana Black spray paint. He recommended it was the best gold spray paint he has used and will give me exactly the finish I want. So I thought I would give it a try and for only $9 a bottle I had nothing to lose.
After bringing it home and trying it out on one of my paintings it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has the antique gold color with yellow undertones and the metallic reflection finish I wanted! After seeing how great the gold turned out I have to go back and try the silver/chrome.
So after many months of reading many posts from other blogs, pinterest boards and DIY sites I have to say this is going to be the only gold paint I use from now on! Below are just a couple items that I have transformed with gold.
Found this old lamp that had such great detail I had to give it a golden shine!
Love the finish so much I incorporated within my paintings. Thinking this could be the start of a gold series!
